Seymour Weiss was born in Bunkie, Louisiana. He was the owner and principal manager of the Roosevelt Hotel, 1931-1965 and a confidante of Huey Long, who made the Roosevelt Hotel his New Orleans headquarters. He was treasurer of the Long political organization's secret campaign fund and controlled federal relief funds in Louisiana during the Depression.
